Heute wird die traurig-schöne Geschichte der Kurtisane Violetta Valéry im Paris des 19. Jahrhunderts erzählt, ihre unglückliche Liebe zu Alfredo Germont und die Grausamkeit der damaligen Gesellschaft. Außerdem wird davor gewarnt, Portraits von Ex-Freundinnen auf dem Kamin stehen zu lassen.
